Runners-Up of Spain with Catalonia at the U-21 CESA

The Catalan national team wrapped up a brilliant performance at the Spanish U-21 Regional Autonomous Beach Volleyball Championship (CESA), held from July 17 to 19 at Las Canteras beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The women's pair formed by Escusa and Sierra claimed the Spanish runner-up title after an outstanding tournament run.

The Catalan duo showcased a stellar level right from the opening matches. After finishing top of their group and staying undefeated throughout the first two days of competition, they advanced directly to the quarterfinals, where they delivered an authoritative win to book their spot among the top four teams.

On Sunday, Escusa and Sierra staged an impressive comeback in the semifinals against Benotmane and Van Laer (Canary Islands). Despite dropping the opening set, the Catalan team turned the game around to claim a 2-1 victory and secure their place in the grand final.

In the battle for the championship, they faced Menegozzo and Aguado (Canary Islands). The local pair ultimately took the win 2-0, but the Catalans fought fiercely until the very end, especially in a nail-biting second set that ended 21-19. With this result, Catalonia concludes the tournament with a well-deserved silver medal.

The U-21 CESA brought together Spain's top rising beach volleyball talents in one of the premier events on the youth development circuit. Catalonia once again proved its elite standard, led by this exceptional silver medal performance from the women's pair.
